RBG – Cask Skiving Machine

This machine was originally designed, built and supplied for and to William Grant & Sons Distillers Ltd. (Glenfiddich) for cask rejuvenation and is used for skiving, rasping and brushing the inside of whiskey/whisky casks of all common sizes such as hoghead, american, sherry buts, etc. This allows the recharring and toasting of oak casks.

Two fully self-adaptive axis follow any uneven surfaces and automatically adjust to the given contour on the inside wall and bottom of the cask. Prior to the cycle the machine “self-teaches” itself and sets the start position of the bottom and side wall; thus allowing fully automatic processing of batches of casks even with greater diameter and height tolerances.
